Crosspost: The Libranos
What the media won’t tell you about Justin Trudeau’s corruption.
“BREAKING: Ezra Levant is in Federal Court against Trudeau today!” — Ezra Levant
The Libranos
Just a quick update from the Federal Court, where I’m fighting against seven Trudeau lawyers.
The subject of the hearing is my 2019 best-selling book, “The Libranos”.
Trudeau hates that book, and he made it the top enforcement priority of Elections Canada — putting more manpower on it than, say, investigating election interference from Communist China.
It’s the noon-hour break, so it’s half-time. But I have to tell you: it’s not going well.
There was one moment that really scared me. My lawyer had just said that it was unacceptable that I was summoned to Ottawa to be grilled by two 30-year RCMP veterans about my editorial plans for the book.
But the judge seemed to disagree. She asked my lawyer what the big deal was — why shouldn’t I just go and answer their questions?
Can you imagine a judge saying that?
In Canada! Authors summoned to explain their editorial plans to Trudeau’s police! To answer questions about their political beliefs, to explain why they wrote certain things or even why they chose certain cover art!
Trudeau’s police actually went through our company’s Twitter feeds and videos, hunting down wrongthink.
To me, that is appalling. This is the kind of thing that China or Iran does.
But to this judge — at least, if her question to my lawyer was a glimpse into her mind — it wasn’t abnormal or wrong. In fact, it sounded perfectly normal.
I hope I’m wrong. I hope she was just engaging in an abstract debate to get my lawyer’s response.
But I’m not optimistic.
The hearing is only half done. We’ll see what happens next. But we’re outnumbered seven to one — and Trudeau’s Justice Department lawyers haven’t even spoken yet.
I’m worried, my friends. I’ll keep you posted. But I fear that we’re going to lose — and that we’ll have to appeal this to the Federal Court of Appeal, too.
What’s so sad is that I’m here all alone. None of the so-called journalistic or civil liberties groups are here. You’d think that government regulation of books and government interrogations of authors would alarm them. But it hasn’t.
Because they never really cared about freedom of the press for everyone — they only cared about those freedoms for themselves. The Canadian Association of Journalists, Amnesty International, PEN Canada — they’re just fine with Rebel News being censored.
But it’s not over yet.
I promise you this: I’ll keep fighting until the end.
Will you join me?
— Ezra
P.S. Believe it or not, you’re paying for the seven government lawyers and bureaucrats here to censor me, because they’re paid by your taxes. Trudeau doesn’t actually have to use his own money to flatten us.
We don’t get any government money — we rely 100% on our viewers.
If you can help me cover our legal bills for this principled fight, please do, by clicking here. (Thanks.)
